Review: Neal's Yard Remedies Superfood Hamper

About a month ago I received one of the most incredible parcels I've ever had the pleasure of opening from the wonderful Neal's Yard Remedies, a natural health and beauty company based in the UK; they very kindly sent me a selection of some of their popular health food products including a variety of adorable jars containing various superfoods, a copy of their 'Healing Foods' information and recipe book, a jar of organic virgin coconut oil, their organic beauty oil and a pack of their new Organic Greens Complex powder. They all arrived in an amazing wicker hamper and, needless to say, I was extremely excited when I opened it!

Neal's Yard Remedies are a natural health and beauty company which were founded in 1981 in Covent Garden, London. Their original shop is still there (right underneath Wild Food Cafe!) but they've since expanded to various other locations across the UK, as well as online and internationally. The majority of Neal's Yard Remedies products are organic, they're never tested on animals and their beauty items contain no synthetic fragrances, parabens or GM ingredients. You can see a full list of everything they do and don't use in their products here!

The Organic Greens Complex powder is their newest superfood product and one which I was very much looking forward to trying; it contains a vast array of nutrient-dense ingredients including spirulina, green tea, chlorella and spinach so it really packs a punch! This powder is full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, and is also a good source of protein due to the inclusion of spirulina. Anyone who has ever tried spirulina in any form will probably be aware of its fairly strong taste and this powder does have a hint of that. However, when its mixed into a smoothie with other ingredients (preferably sweet fruit such as bananas, mangoes or pineapple) it's well disguised so you're getting the health benefits without the unpleasant taste; if you add something like cacao, carob or lucuma powder too then the Greens Complex powder is virtually undetectable! I thoroughly recommend this powder because it contains ingredients from several different sources which means you're getting a good range of nutrients - it's also a great option if you feel a bit nervous about adding spinach or kale to your smoothies! You can buy the Organic Greens Complex powder here.

Next, we come to the super cute jars full of superfoods; I absolutely adore these jars and they're currently sitting on a little shelf in my kitchen! Neal's Yard Remedies sent chia seeds, maca powder, green tea, hemp powder, olive leaves, ashwagandha powder, baobab powder, rhodiola powder, dried mulberries and goji berries. All of these superfoods are extremely beneficial to a person's health and even just one of them would be an excellent addition to anyone's diet. Each of these products has its own health benefits - for example, baobab, chia seeds, maca, mulberries and olive leaves are all fabulous sources of energy, goji berries and green tea give a great antioxidant boost, ashwagandha is said to give strength and endurance, and rhodiola has been found to help relieve stress. You can buy one or more of these amazing superfoods here!

The Organic Beauty Oil is something I've been eyeing up for a while and after trying it for a few weeks I'm definitely not disappointed. This amazing supplement contains golden flax seed oil, hemp seed oil, avocado oil, evening primrose oil and pumpkin seed oil, so you're able to reap the benefits from several different sources of healthy fats. It's now a well known fact that healthy fats aren't something to be scared of and they're actually extremely beneficial to our physical health, both physiologically speaking (they're especially good for our hearts) and in terms of our appearance too; our hair, skin and nails thrive off fats from foods such as nuts, seeds and avocados, so this beauty oil is definitely a winner! I've definitely noticed that the condition of my hair, skin and nails has improved and although this oil doesn't taste the best when taken on its own it's completely worth it - plus if you add it to smoothies then you can't taste it at all! You can buy the Organic Beauty Oil here.

I use a ridiculous amount of coconut oil, both in my cooking and my beauty regime, so I was delighted to find a jar of Neal's Yard Remedies' coconut oil in the hamper! This oil is both organic and raw so it retains all the nutrients that would have been lost through heat processing. You can use coconut oil in place of any other cooking oil, from roasting vegetables to cooking pancakes - you can also use it as a moisturiser, make up remover or hair mask! It's such a versatile product and the fact that this particular one is raw and organic just makes it ten times better. You can buy the Organic Virgin Coconut Oil here.

Finally, the Neal's Yard Remedies 'Healing Foods' book - this book is one of my new kitchen staples because it's packed full of information about various fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and other nutrient-rich foods. Each item of food has its own page with an introduction, a list of health benefits, a section on how to get the best out of it and tips on how to use it. The book also has a wide range of recipes, including breakfasts, snacks, soups, salads, main meals, sweet treats and drinks; they're not all vegan but most of the non-vegan recipes can easily be adapted. This book would be excellent for anyone, whether they're just starting a healthy lifestyle or have been doing it for years - there's always something new to learn! You can buy the 'Healing Foods' book here.

This was an incredibly generous hamper from Neal's Yard Remedies and it was an absolute pleasure trying everything in it! I thoroughly recommend all these items, as well as the company themselves and the huge range of beauty products they also make. They're one of my all-time favourite health and beauty companies and I'm definitely planning on going for a facial at one of their therapy rooms sometime in the near future!

You can buy all of Neal's Yard Remedies' products on their website (they ship internationally too!), as well as in their own shops, selected Waitrose stores and some health food shops. You can also visit them on ,  or .

Note: I was sent these products to review and all opinions expressed are my own.
